Belarus' export up 14.9% in 2018

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – In 2018 Belarus' export of merchandise and services surged by 14.9% over 2017 to total $42 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

Belarus' trade in merchandise and services totaled $83.3 billion, which was up by 14.1% up from 2017. Export amounted to $42 billion, with import going over $41.3 billion (up 13.3%). The surplus of the foreign trade in merchandise and services amounted to $694.4 million ($82.9 million in 2017).

Merchandise trade rose by 14.6% to $69.2 billion. Merchandise export went up by 15.9% to $33.2 billion, with import up by 13.4% to $35.9 billion. The deficit of merchandise trade reached $2.65 billion (almost $3 billion in 2017).

Trade in services amounted to $14.1 billion, up by 11.7% from 2017. Export of services reached $8.7 billion (up by 11.2%), with import at $5.4 billion (12.5%). Belarus had a surplus of foreign trade in services in the amount of $3.35 billion ($3.06 billion in 2017).
