MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) - The export of sawn timber by the forestries affiliated with the Belarusian Forestry Ministry rose by more than 20% in January 2024 year-on-year, Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik said at a meeting with representatives of the forestry industry, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry.
The minister noted that the trust in Belarusian timber is growing. "In January 2024, domestic forestries sold more than 83,500 cubic meters of sawn timber abroad. That was up by 21.5% year-on-year," he said.
"This indicates a certain positive trend. Our goods proved their worth in the foreign markets. Meanwhile, we should continue diversifying the markets," the minister emphasized.
The meeting covered six major issues: domestic sale of round timber and export of sawn timber, housing construction for the industry employees, the use of pellets, etc.
