MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – In 2020 Belarus' export of merchandise and services dropped by 11.7% year-on-year to $37.1 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).
In 2020 the trade in goods and services exceeded $72.2 billion, down by 14.4% from a year earlier. Import totaled $35.2 billion (down by 17%). Surplus of foreign trade surplus in goods and services equaled $1.92 billion, well above the trade surplus of $403 million in 2019.
Belarus' merchandise trade dropped by 15.1% to $58.5 billion. Merchandise export went down by 12.6% to $28.3 billion, with merchandise import down by 17.2% to $30.2 billion. Deficit totaled $1.97 billion. In 2019 Belarus also had a deficit of more than $4.2 billion.
Foreign trade in services reached $13.8 billion, down by 11.2% year-on-year. Export of services amounted to $8.8 billion (down by 8.5%), with import at $4.9 billion (down by 15.7%). Surplus of foreign trade in services equaled $3.9 billion, up from $3.8 billion in 2019.
