MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Belarus is expanding cooperation in agriculture with Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko said in an interview to ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Last year was not an easy one because of the pandemic, but we made it through, we secured our supplies, we proved ourselves to our suppliers. Today we have new contracts, and they are expanding. For example, Azerbaijan got interested in the restoration and development of our rural areas, production facilities, the development of social environment, the construction of social facilities in agro-towns. I think we will have a long and fruitful cooperation. A joint venture has been set up in Tajikistan to assemble Belarusian tractors and Gomselmash harvesters. Recently we have been visited by a working group from that country, and we plan to expand the range of Belarusian equipment assembled there,” said Ivan Krupko.
Last week, the minister met with Tajikistan Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zevarsho Zevarshoev. The parties discussed ways to expand cooperation in livestock breeding, crop production, science and education. Belarus is interested in further expansion of mutually beneficial trade in agricultural products and food, increasing the volume of mutual supplies, enhancing cooperation in livestock breeding and agricultural education.
Ivan Krupko also spoke about the international specialized exhibition Belagro 2021. According to him, the event was attended by 410 companies from 16 countries. The exhibition was visited by more than 32,000 people.
