Belarus' energy minister authorized to hold gas talks with Russia

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian government has authorized Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich to negotiate a draft protocol to amend the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on natural gas supplies. The corresponding decree No.286 of the Council of Ministers of 7 May 2022 was published on the National Legal Internet Portal on 11 May, BelTA has learned.

The Council of Ministers authorized Viktor Karankevich to hold the talks on the draft protocol to amend the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the procedure to set prices (tariffs) for natural gas supplies to Belarus and its transportation by gas pipelines located in the country. The agreement was signed on 25 November 2011.

According to Decree No.287 of 7 May 2022, the energy minister is authorized to negotiate a draft protocol to amend the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the conditions of sale and purchase of shares and further activities of Beltransgaz of 25 November 2011.

Viktor Karankevich is allowed to make changes to the agreements that are not of principle nature and also sign these protocols upon reaching an agreement within the approved drafts.

The resolutions come into force from the date of their adoption.
