Belarus' efforts as UNECE chairman in 2019-2021 get thumbs up

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) - During his visit to Switzerland, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe Olga Algayerova, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The executive secretary praised Belarus' efforts as the UNECE chairman in 2019-2021 to strengthen the commission's capacity, improve the efficiency and practical impact of its work," the press service noted.

The minister stressed the country's great demand for practical intergovernmental cooperation on the UNECE platform and also noted the importance of UNECE's technical assistance to Belarus in innovation, environment, housing and municipal policy, ageing of the population, and development of the institution of public-private partnership.

An agreement was reached to provide Belarus with UNECE technical assistance to form and improve the national circular economy programs.
