Belarus' Economy Ministry: Companies' revenues keep growing

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Belarusian companies keep working to improve their efficiency, Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Yaroshevich said commenting on the National Statistical Committee's operational data on the financial performance of enterprises in January-April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

According to Dmitry Yaroshevich, financial performance is the best indicator of the efficiency and sustainability of the real sector of the economy.

“Operational efficiency of companies keeps improving. Revenues are increasing faster than production costs. This pushed up net profit that rose by almost 23%. The profitability of sales inched up by 0.8 percentage points to 8.2%. As a result, the number of unprofitable organizations and their share decreased even more,” he said.

Better financial performance had a positive impact on the state of receivables and payables, which decreased by 2.4% and 4.8% respectively within just a month.

“Minsk Oblast and Grodno Oblast were ahead of other regions in terms of net profit. The two regions posted an increase of more than 2 and 1.7 times respectively. They made the most of their potential, and other regions should follow suit. They have everything in place to do it. According to the recent market survey conducted by the Economy Research Institute of the Economy Ministry, currently domestic companies have orders for 3 months,” the deputy economy minister noted.
