MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to maintain the current pace of investment growth, Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said during a working visit to Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The minister's working day began in Gantsevichi District where he toured the Brestzhilstroy plant. Yuri Chebotar studied the operations of the enterprise, met with the workforce, discussed the current economic situation and answered questions from the employees. “In the first two months of the year, we saw robust growth across key indicators - GDP, investments and household income. It is extremely important to maintain this pace in order to keep growing. To this end, we are consistently improving institutional mechanisms for supporting investments and attracting capital into promising projects in the real sector of the economy. Today, every enterprise, regardless of its form of ownership, can use these tools for technological upgrade, development of new types of products and for increasing competitiveness. At the same time, companies should double down on using their own raw materials and on increasing localization,” emphasized Yuri Chebotar.

The minister also met with local residents at the Gantsevichi District Executive Committee.

Yuri Chebotar’s working day continued in Baranovichi District where he reviewed progress to build the first stage of the Burshtyn Industrial Park. The facility is 80% ready, the first three resident companies have already been selected. “This pilot site should become a driver of growth for the region. Its best practices can be scaled up throughout other regions of the country,” he noted.

The minister also visited Midea Refrigerator Manufacturing, where a joint Belarus-China production of refrigerators and freezers is being created. Yuri Chebotar discussed the project with the management of the enterprise.
