MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarus is intent on setting up and developing joint innovative manufacturing enterprises together with China. Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko made the statement during the international forum of business contacts “Brest-China. Strategic partnership”, the press service of the Economy Ministry told BelTA.

According to Alesya Abramenko, the forum begins an excellent tradition of organization of landmark events dedicated to interregional cooperation between Belarus and China, which is becoming a priority vector in Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation. “Thanks to active support from municipal authorities of Belarusian regions and Chinese provinces the agreement signed by the Belarusian Economy Ministry and the Chinese Commerce Ministry in March 2023 on stepping up trade and economic cooperation between regions of Belarus and China has formed a solid base for further enhancing the interregional ties,” the official stressed.

The deputy economy minister mentioned a number of promising industrial projects, which are being implemented in Belarus’ territory with the participation of Chinese partners. For example, Geely Company participates in the production and sales of automobiles within the framework of a joint project, which envisages car assembly at premises of BelGee Company. Cooperation in automobile manufacturing together with other large Chinese producers is advancing. In particular, the assembly of Hongqi cars and Sinotruk VGV cars. The organization of production of small-capacity trucks is under consideration.

“We strive towards openness and further increase in trade and economic cooperation, towards the creation and development of joint innovative manufacturing enterprises together with China. Favorable conditions for investments have been enabled in the country. Progressive legislation on investments is in effect. Free economic zones and the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone successfully operate and make a substantial contribution to the economy of the regions,” Alesya Abramenko noted.
