Belarus eager to sell peat substrates to Uzbekistan

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Prospects of implementation of joint projects were discussed as a delegation of the state industrial group Beltopgaz led by Beltopgaz Deputy Director General Valery Kovalev visited Tashkent where negotiations with top officials of the State Forestry Committee of Uzbekistan took place. The visit took place on 25-28 April, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The possibility of arranging deliveries of Belarusian peat substrates to forestry enterprises of Uzbekistan was discussed. The peat substrates can be used as the foundation for growing tree saplings. Belarusian peat factories have good experience in the sphere of production of soils for planting seeds and growing tree saplings for forestry enterprises and are ready to export these products to Uzbekistan. The sides expressed interest in mutually beneficial partnership. The logistics of deliveries and cooperation terms will be worked out soon.

Beltopgaz's peat industry enterprises export both fuel peat and non-fuel peat products. In 2021 export rose by 27.3% in comparison with 2020 to 200,400 tonnes. Peat was exported to 24 countries.
