MOSCOW, 17 June (BelTA) - Belarus has drafted an international agreement on science, technology and innovation cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union, Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Sergei Glazyev told the media following the meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council under the chairman of the EEC Board on 17 June, BelTA has learned.
“The most important issue discussed today was the preparation of a draft agreement on science, technology and innovation cooperation in the Eurasian Economic Union. Since there are no political decisions on amendments and additions to our legal framework on this topic, we considered the relevant initiative proposal from the Academy of Sciences and the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus. Among the presented documents were a draft declaration on scientific and technological cooperation and a draft international agreement on science, technology and innovation in the EAEU. Keeping in mind these documents, we decided to prepare a concept of scientific and technical cooperation, discuss it at the next meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council and submit it for discussion at the EEC Board,” Sergei Glazyev said.
The Scientific and Technical Council under the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission was formed as an open discussion and advisory platform to discuss a wide range of issues of Eurasian economic integration and further development of the EAEU. Members of the Council consider models and forms of economic integration, discuss topical issues of global economic development and global challenges, study effective regulatory practices of international integration associations, work out proposals on the development of cooperation between EAEU member states. The Council's activities contribute to improving the Commission's work on research and projects.
The Council is headed by Chairman of the EEC's Board Mikhail Myasnikovich, his deputy is Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Sergei Glazyev. The Presidium of the Council is formed on the basis of equal representation of the EAEU member states from deputy heads of government bodies in science and higher education, heads of national academies of sciences, and members of the EEC Board.
