Belarus' Customs intent on increasing automatic freight release percentage

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – The customs service intends to increase the share of export goods, which are automatically released, up to 75% by 2025. The figure is stipulated by the strategy on developing the customs service in 2021-2025, representatives of the State Customs Committee told BelTA.

According to the source, at present Belarus' Customs can automatically release shipments, which go through export, import, and transit procedures. The technology contributes to a barrier-free environment for business, reduces the time costs and financial costs that customs operations require as well as corruption risks. In accordance with the strategy the number of customs procedures, during which shipments will be released automatically, will increase by 2025.

The share of automatically released shipments during import, export, and transit operations will be considerably expanded. The share of automatically released declarations in the course of export procedures stood at 59% as of late 2020, the source said. The figure is supposed to rise to 75% by 2025.
