Belarus clears nearly 95% of areas under rapeseed

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) - Belarusian agricultural workers have cleared 94.8% of areas under rapeseed, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of early 6 September, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) were harvested from 98.6% of the planned area (2.137 million hectares). According to the update information, harvesting was completed on 99% of the target (352,900 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 97.5% (344,600 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 99.4% (346,900 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 98.4% (307,500 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 98.7% (452,700 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 98.7% (333,100 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Agricultural workers harvested millet from 6,070 hectares, or 52.1% of the target, threshing 15,000 tonnes with the average yield at 24.7 centners per hectare. Buckwheat was cropped from 14,200 hectares (40.9%) with 19,000 tonnes threshed (the average yield - 13.4 centners per hectare).

Belarus threshed 8.13 million tonnes of grain. Rapeseed was cut from 339,800 hectares of land (94.8% of the designated area), with 869,000 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 25.6 centners per hectare). Belarusian farmers threshed 64,700 tonnes of spring rapeseed.

The procurement plan for 2022 will make up 811,400 tonnes of grain.
