Belarus-China trade picking up steam

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus-China trade is on the up and up, Belarus’ Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said during the opening of the Exhibition of Chinese Goods and Services 2024 at the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone on 25 August, BelTA has learned.

The China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone (Minsk Oblast) is once again hosting an exhibition of Chinese goods and services on 25-28 August 2024. The main goal of the exhibition is to open a new chapter of Belarus-China cooperation and innovation.

“The Belarusian side highly appreciates the trust placed in us. We understand that this exhibition is one of the final touches in organizing the visit of Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang to Belarus,” Alesya Abramenko noted.

The long-standing trade relations between Belarus and China demonstrate steady growth and are in line with a comprehensive and all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries, she added. “During the meeting of the president of Belarus with the premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, mutual agreements were reached to expand cooperation, use advanced technologies, build up manufacturing capacities, optimize industrial chains and trade, promote new industries, as well as prop up the development of the digital economy,” the deputy minister recalled.

This year was declared the Year of Belarus-China Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. “We invite our Chinese partners to step up cooperation in technology, which includes the establishment of new production facilities in Belarus and the upgrade of existing ones using China’s top-notch solutions. The Belarusian side is ready to set up new enterprises in such industries as machine tool building, electric transport, production of component parts for agricultural machinery, and we are also interested in China’s extensive technological presence in Belarus,” Alesya Abramenko noted.

The government is focused on eliminating possible restrictions, on promoting investment and creating a favorable investment climate, she noted. “The most effective platform for such cooperation is the Great Stone industrial park. Further development of the park was one of the highlights of the recently signed intergovernmental plan of the Belt and Road Initiative and Belarus’ socio-economic development strategy. We believe that the industrial park will offer great opportunities for cooperation between our businesses and for launching joint ventures. I am confident that Chinese products will be very popular among Belarusian consumers,” the deputy minister added.
