Belarus, China to advance cooperation in customs affairs

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus and China intend to advance cooperation in customs affairs. The matter was discussed at a session of the customs and quarantine cooperation commission of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation, representatives of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Representatives of the Belarusian and Chinese customs services, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Belarusian embassy in China took part in the videoconference session. The sides mentioned active interaction of customs services, veterinary and sanitary services, and phytosanitary services of Belarus and the Chinese customs service. High results of bilateral cooperation were mentioned as well as the growing number of joint projects due to rising Belarus-China trade. Participants of the videoconference session stressed the strategic geopolitical location of Belarus within the framework of the China-Europe railway route of the Belt and Road initiative. The potential for increasing such transportation was mentioned.

The development of the authorized economic operators institution and the expansion of accreditation of Belarusian manufacturers on the Chinese market were discussed. Interest was mentioned in tighter cooperation between the Belarusian customs service and the customs services of the key cities involved in the delivery and customs clearance of Belarusian goods in China. The sides agreed to expand cooperation in personnel training, including by means of joint seminars, scientific and professional exchange programs.

Participants of the session also approved a regulation on the customs and quarantine cooperation commission. Working groups on customs cooperation and quarantine cooperation were established. An international agreement was signed on exchanging digital data about the goods and trains that cross the territories of Belarus and China.
