MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - December has traditionally become the best month of the year in Belarus for car sellers, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Automobile Association.
“In December 2024, the auto dealers – members of the Belarusian Automobile Association sold 7,205 new cars, which was 21% more than in November 2024 and 7% more than in December 2023. The main reasons for a significant increase in the new car sales in December were marketing activity (discounts, gifts, favorable financial terms), and the growth of demand from buyers,” the association said.
In terms of passenger cars, Geely (BelGEE) remained the largest seller, with 3,567 cars sold (53% of all new passenger cars sold).
Light commercial vehicles accounted for 6% of the total number of vehicles sold during the month, while the share of electric vehicles in December amounted to almost 8%. By comparison, in December 2023, the share of electric vehicles was only 1.8% of the total number of cars sold.
“The significant growth in electric car sales was facilitated by both the increased supply of electric vehicles from dealers and the development of the relevant infrastructure,” the association added.
