MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The cooperation between Belarusian producer of dump trucks BelAZ and companies from Krasnoyarsk Territory of the Russian Federation is advancing to a new level as agreements were reached to implement joint projects and improve maintenance infrastructure for quarry equipment, BelTA learned from the company's press service.

“BelAZ dump trucks and special equipment are actively used at enterprises in the region. The company plans to open a large maintenance center in Krasnoyarsk and is already looking for a construction site,” said First Deputy Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory - Head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government Sergei Vereshchagin.

The leader of the region's mining and metallurgical industry, Nornickel, is considering the possibility of setting up, in close cooperation with BelAZ, a facility to service and repair machinery and to test new prototypes at its site in Sosnovoborsk.  A factory to assemble underground mining equipment and components might be built on this site in the future.

Representatives of BelAZ were part of the Belarusian delegation that visited Krasnoyarsk Territory earlier. The delegation toured several industrial sites in the region where dealership centers and assembly factories might be set up in partnership with regional manufacturers. Several days later, when BelAZ was hosting a government delegation of Krasnoyarsk Territory headed by Sergei Vereshchagin, the parties thrashed out cooperation plans and confirmed their commitment to the previously reached agreements.

BelAZ Director General Sergei Lesin introduced the guests to the process of assembling dump trucks and to the company's products. The head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government was impressed by the diversity and size of the equipment produced by BelAZ. Sergei Vereshchagin was even more impressed after a test drive of a 90-tonne BelAZ at the plant's testing ground.

Krasnoyarsk Territory accounts for about 70% of Russia's coal reserves; the region is among the leaders in gold mining. The market share of BelAZ quarry equipment in Krasnoyarsk Territory is 58%. In 2024, 66 BelAZ dump trucks were delivered to the region. This year, four vehicles were shipped; the delivery of another 18 vehicles is under discussion.
