MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarusian First Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Kartun took part in the plenary session of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
“The event is themed as Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities. Representatives of government, business and scientific circles discussed the main challenges faced by Asian countries, as well as ways to overcome them. The need was emphasized for each state to focus on the development of an open economy, a multilateral trading system, transport and financial cooperation, elimination of trade barriers, and strengthening global cooperation within the Belt and Road framework to build a shared future and prosperity of the peoples of the region,” the economy ministry said.
The speakers included 8th UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, officials of Nauru, Sri Lanka, Dominica, Cambodia and other countries.
On the sidelines of the forum Andrei Kartun met with Renat Bekturov, Manager of the Astana International Financial Center, and Qi Bin, Executive Vice President of China Investment Corporation.
