MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Peugeot automobiles assembled in Belarus are now available in retail, BelTA learned from Valentin Trigorlov, Deputy Director of the company PS Avto Grupp, which is an official importer of Peugeot automobiles to Belarus.
“Belarus-assembled Peugeot cars are available in retail as of today. Those are middle-class sedan Peugeot 301 and restyled crossover Peugeot 3008. There are plans to start selling Peugeot Partner in March in addition to the new restyled business sedan Peugeot 508 as well as two Citroen models — C-Elysee and Berlingo,” explained the executive.
The automobiles are assembled by the Unison factory in the village of Obchak 10km away from Minsk. The automobiles will be sold via Peugeot's and Citroen's dealerships in Belarus.
According to Valentin Trigorlov, the assembly of Peugeot and Citroen cars by the Unison factory is a unique project brought about by the vigorous development of Belarusian-French relations. “Peugeot 301 and 3008 cars are already available in the dealership in Minsk. There are plans to open new dealerships in Gomel in Vitebsk in Q1 2015,” he said.
Representatives of PSA Peugeot Citroen, the Unison factory, and PS Avto Grupp signed the license agreement on manufacturing Peugeot and Citroen components in Belarus in Paris on 6 October 2014.
The joint venture ZAO Unison is located in the village of Obchak 10km away from Minsk. The enterprise was founded in 1996 as a Belarusian-British joint venture Ford Union. In 2000 it was reincorporated as ZAO Unison. The enterprise has been assembling automobiles for over 15 years, including such brands as Ford, KIA, and Samand.
