Belarus-Arkhangelsk Oblast business forum kicks off in Minsk

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) - The Belarus-Arkhangelsk Oblast business forum has kicked off in Minsk on 23 April, BelTA has learned.

"Belarusian companies have showed a greast interest in today's event. The plenary session will focus on the main avenues that we will explore, in particular, the investment and tourism potential of Belarus and Arkhangelsk Oblast. The program includes a presentation of the Commercial Sea Port, which is of particular interest to Belarusian business as an opportunity to access remote regions of Russia through the Northern Sea Route," said Sergei Nabeshko, Director General of the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He added that trade and economic relations between Arkhangelsk and Belarus get a lot o attention. Last year, the parties signed a plan of joint activities which gave an impetus to trade.

"The draw of today's forum is B2B negotiations mediated by the Minsk Office of the BelCCI. We have extensive experience in holding such events. We have already put together a pool of interested companies and will coordinate approaches and meetings. Plans are also in place to sign an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Arkhangelsk Oblast which will open up new horizons and new opportunities for us. Our focus in on the localization of production, marketing research and other areas," Sergei Nabeshko said.

According to the National Statistical Committee, trade between Belarus and Arkhangelsk Oblast of Russia surged by 45% in January-December 2023. Both trade and exports to Arkhangelsk Oblast in 2023 were record high.
