Minsk, 4 February (BelTA) - Belarus’ air passenger traffic rose by 8.5% in 2024 over 2023, Igor Golub, Director of the Aviation Department at the Transport and Communications Ministry, said at the year-end board meeting which was held at the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation, BelTA learned.
The passenger turnover has gone up by 13.5% year-on-year, and the number of passengers boarded - by 16.9%.
In 2024 Belavia operated regular flights from Minsk National Airport, Gomel and Brest airports to 23 airports of 11 countries. Flights on a regular basis to/from Minsk National Airport were operated by 12 carriers. Aviation safety was fully ensured at civil aviation facilities.
As part of the investment project, Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407 commissioned a unit for aircraft exterior washing and painting and aircraft maintenance in the first half of 2024.
The Aviation Department is actively working to expand the regulatory legal framework and increase the number of air service agreements with foreign countries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubina, Deputy Economy Minister Vladimir Naumovich, representatives of the national government bodies and heads of aviation organizations. The meeting took stock of the state programs Transport Industry and Energy Saving for 2021-2025 and analyzed the performance of the aviation industry in 2024.
