MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Serbia are committed to further strengthening their economic ties in the agro-industrial sector, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA following talks between Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vladimir Grakun, Serbia’s Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Minister Dragan Glamočić and Serbia's State Secretary Stana Božović held in Belgrade on 12 July.
The meeting took place during the latest session of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.
Interaction between the two countries’ agricultural agencies is governed by a permanent memorandum of understanding, which has been in effect for 15 years. It provides for exchange of experience, technologies, scientific developments, and joint initiatives to advance agriculture.
In January-April 2025, trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Serbia surged by 8.4% year on year. Key Belarusian exports include milk and dairy products, fruits and berries, and fresh potatoes, while Serbia supplies seed corn and oil crops to Belarus. Serbia remains one of Belarus’ key partners in the Balkans, with a free trade agreement and visa-free regime creating favorable conditions to expand business ties.
During the talks, the parties expressed interest in increasing Belarusian meat and dairy exports to Serbia, as well as expanding the list of accredited Belarusian enterprises authorized to supply food products. The parties exchanged information and best practices in areas of mutual interest: from production technologies to regulatory frameworks.
It was noted that agricultural cooperation between the two countries has strong potential for further development. Serbian representatives praised the quality of Belarusian products and expressed readiness to increase imports, particularly in the dairy and vegetable sectors. Belarusian dairy and potatoes are gaining trust among local consumers due to their high quality and reasonable prices.
There is also discussion of Belarusian producers participating in trade exhibitions in Serbia, which would help boost brand recognition and establish new business connections.
