Belarus' agricultural output up by 6% in January-February

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) - In January-February 2020, agricultural farms of all kinds (state-run agricultural enterprises, private farmers, subsidiary farms) produced Br1.881 billion worth of goods, which was 6% up year-on-year in comparable prices, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

In January-February 2020, agricultural enterprises made Br1.821 billion worth of products, which was up by 6.6% over the same period of 2019 in comparable prices.

Enterprises of all types produced 308,200 tonnes tonnes of livestock and poultry (live weight), which was up by 5% over over January-February 2019. The output of milk was 1,200,700 tonnes (up by 6.5%). As for agricultural organizations, livestock and poultry output amounted to 294,800 tonnes (live weight), and milk output made up 1,176,400 tonnes tonnes.

As of 1 March 2020, the number of cattle in agricultural enterprises stood at 4.2 million head (99.1% of 1 March 2019), including 1.4 million cows (100.2%). The number of pigs amounted to 2.6 million head (up by 3% over the same period a year earlier).
