Belarus' agricultural output 7.9% up in January-August

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – In January-August 2020, agricultural farms of all kinds (state-run agricultural enterprises, private farmers, subsidiary farms) produced Br13.3 billion worth of goods, which was up by 7.9% year-on-year in comparable prices, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

In January-August 2020, agricultural enterprises made Br12.1 billion worth of products, which was up by 9.6% over the same period of 2019 in comparable prices.

The output of cattle and poultry (in terms of live weight) at farms of all kinds totaled 1.245 million tonnes (up by 4.8% year-on-year), including 1.198 million tonnes (up by 5.4%) in state-run agricultural enterprises. Milk production reached 5.256 million tonnes (5.3% up), including 5.081 million tonnes (6% up) in state-run agricultural enterprises.

As of 1 September 2020, the number of cattle in agricultural enterprises stood at 4.2 million head (99.7% as against the same period of 2019), including 1.4 million cows (up 0.3%). The number of pigs amounted to 2.6 million head, up 2.9% from 1 September 2019.
