MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Subbotin met with head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Dankvert in Moscow, BelTA learned from the website of the Russian agency.
The parties summed up the results of joint work and welcomed the steady development of trade between the two countries. "From 30% to 35% of all meat products imported by Russia is now imported from Belarus. The share of certain types of Belarusian dairy products in the structure of Russian imports reaches 80%. In the last two weeks alone, thanks to the effective cooperation between Rosselkhoznadzor and Belarus, the temporary restrictions imposed by Russia on the supply of certain types of livestock products have been lifted from more than 10 Belarusian enterprises.
The parties discussed the integration of the information systems of the two countries. Sergey Dankvert considers it necessary to apply uniform approaches to product traceability in Russia and Belarus. The parties are also planning to develop a joint program to control and reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock.
Another topic of the meeting was scientific cooperation. Aleksandr Subbotin noted the importance of establishing cooperation in the fight against the spread of zoogenous infections in animals. The parties discussed conducting joint research on the presence of SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, in susceptible animals. Research can be carried out at the Federal Center for Animal Health affiliated with Rosselkhoznadzor.
