MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Minsk hosted the 6th meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russian Arkhangelsk Oblast on 12 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.

The meeting was chaired by Bellesbumprom Head Aleksandr Pshenny and Deputy Chairman of the Arkhangelsk Oblast government Igor Murayev.

The parties took stock of the trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Arkhangelsk Oblast in 2025 and discussed promising areas for developing foreign economic relations. In particular, they analyzed cooperation in manufacturing, equipment supply and logistics, the agro-industrial complex and trade, as well as education, science, and innovation.

“Belarus accounts for about 30% of the region’s foreign trade,” Igor Murayev noted. The main exports consist of various types of machinery and food products.

Arkhangelsk Oblast delegation toured Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) and Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ). Representatives of the Russian region were introduced to the new bus production facility, where the latest models of passenger transport are already being manufactured. Utility vehicles also attracted interest. MAZ is ready to offer a wide range of such machinery powered by various types of fuel, including models developed jointly with Russian manufacturers. At MTZ, guests viewed an exhibition of BELARUS machinery and visited the company museum. They also toured BelAZ, the management company of the BelAZ Holding company, and Amkodor Lesmash.

Arkhangelsk Oblast is among the top ten most forested regions of Russia. Currently, an eight-wheel forestry complex is undergoing testing in the region: the Amkodor FH3081 harvester and the Amkodor FF1681 forwarder. In addition, the delegation reviewed a lineup of mining equipment and visited a testing ground.

Following the visit, both parties expressed readiness to continue the dialogue and work out specific areas of cooperation.
