Belagro expo seen as opportunity to discuss cooperation with Russia amid sanctions

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The international exhibition Belagro 2022 is a good opportunity to discuss cooperation with the Russian Federation amid current sanctions, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Belagro Organizing Committee Leonid Zayats said during a meeting of the organizing committee on 16 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

“Interest in the exhibition, which has become one of Belarus' most recognizable brands, is high not only among employees of our agro-industrial complex and our citizens, but also in other countries, especially in the Russian Federation. The exhibition is a good opportunity to discuss all the issues related to further cooperation of economic complexes of the two countries amid the unprecedented sanctions pressure. The recent visits of delegations from Russian regions, the visit of the Belarusian head of state to the Far East, and the agreements reached during them give us confidence that together we will be able to produce more than one product that will be in demand in the markets of third countries,” said Leonid Zayats.

The organizing committee discussed the placement of exhibitors, trade and catering facilities, fire safety, law enforcement, road traffic in the area of the event and a number of other issues.

The Belarusian agro-industrial week that includes such exhibitions as Belagro 2022, Belferma and Belprodukt will take place in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone on 7-11 June. The area of the exposition is 27,000 square meters. More than 260 companies have applied for participation so far. The expo will feature expositions of the Russian regions.

The business program of the exhibition will include conferences and seminars that will discuss a wide range of issues on ensuring competitiveness of agricultural products, use of land resources, development of livestock breeding, prospects for cooperation of Belarus with CIS and non-CIS countries in the production of innovative technologies in agriculture, other topical issues.

“One of the main areas of the business program is export of the Belarusian products and international cooperation. The exhibition will be attended by official and business delegations from various countries. More than 15 delegations from regions of Russia, as well as Iraq, Iran, Venezuela and Nicaragua, Tajikistan have confirmed their participation. Business talks and working groups' meetings will take place as well,” Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said.
