Batch of 55-tonne BelAZ trucks nearly assembled in Russian Norilsk

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – A large batch of new BelAZ vehicles, which are designed to operate in Arctic conditions, has been nearly assembled in the Russian city of Norilsk, the press service of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ told BelTA.

It took about four months to assemble the twenty 55-tonne haul trucks or about 4-5 days per truck. Specialists of OOO BelTransLogistic, BelAZ's official representative in the region, took care of the supervised installation.

It is a unique batch of 55-tonne trucks made to specifications of local engineers. They are designed to operate in air temperatures of up to 50 degrees below zero, in strong winds, and snowdrifts. The vehicles boast high performance parameters and good fuel and lubricant economy.

In late April the BelAZ 7555V trucks will be shipped to strategic facilities of the mining company Nornickel in Taimyr Peninsula, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. The trucks will be used in a number of civil engineering projects.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's leading manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for mining industry and civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
