MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) - A delegation of Azerbaijan led by Prime Minister Ali Asadov paid a visit to the Belarusian automaker MAZ. The foreign delegation was shown a collective exhibition of domestically-made machinery, BelTA has learned.
At the entrance to the plant the Azerbaijani delegation was welcomed by Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko, Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov, MAZ Director General Valery Ivankovich and other officials.
The prime minister of Azerbaijan showed keen interest in fire engines, including those of joint production. Pozhsnab fire tankers have been in production on the basis of MAZ chassis for a long time. According to Valery Ivankovich, the plant has been working with the company for more than five years. Active development of technologies and new materials made it possible to assemble the CIS most advanced fire engine.
Ali Asadov was shown a novelty - AL-52 ladder truck, capable of evacuating people from a height of 52 meters. Belarus has recently become one of the five countries in the world that produces such ladders.
“I have heard a lot of positive things about Pozhsnab,” Ali Asadov said and emphasized that Azerbaijan had big plans to develop the area in the coming years. He added that Belarusian technology should be evaluated by those who is going to use them.
Azerbaijan's fleet renewing program is large, and the need for such machinery is about 400 vehicles. The country will use Belarusian specialists and equipment to implement the program.
Ali Asadov was also shown an elevator cabin produced by Mogilevliftmash. Ali Asadov confirmed readiness to cooperate with the Belarusian elevator manufacturer. Baku may become the biggest customer, since the capital city needs such products. “Elevator maintenance services should be available. There is a need for an anti-vandal system,” the Azerbaijani prime minister said.
Ali Asadov got familiar with Belarusian tank cars and containers for cargo transportation. Belarus actively conclude contracts with Azerbaijan on their delivery.
