MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Belarus is working on setting up the assembly of machines, vehicles, and equipment in Nicaragua. Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Aleksandr Yegorov made the statement as he met with the Nicaragua president’s advisor for investment, trade, and international cooperation Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Yegorov remarked that active interaction between Belarus and Nicaragua began a couple of years ago but thanks to intensive negotiations and mutual visits the parties managed to accomplish as much as other countries would have accomplished over decades. “One can say that with one pilot contract on selling Belarusian trucks to Nicaragua we exceeded the previous export figure by 1.5 times right away,” he added.

In his words, this pilot deal and the existing arrangements indicate that the current trade and economic cooperation volumes will increase significantly. “We are ready to state that all the arrangements between Belarus and Nicaragua regarding product deliveries will be underpinned by a loan from the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus,” he stressed.

Aleksandr Yegorov also mentioned the possibility of setting up enterprises to assemble Belarusian machines, vehicles, and equipment in Nicaragua for the sake of consequent sales in nearby countries. He informed the Nicaraguan side that a major government conference involving the country’s president had taken place in Belarus to discuss the development of the manufacturing sector. During the conference the head of state identified the establishment of assembly enterprises in friendly countries as a strategic cooperation avenue. “It is necessary to organize a visit of the government delegation in order to conduct negotiations on setting up such manufacturing facilities with the Nicaraguan government,” he suggested. In his opinion, it will create an opportunity to secure additional increase in merchandise export to other countries in the region and will make the arrangements on deliveries of Belarusian machines and vehicles permanent.

The deputy head of the Belarus President Administration also suggested organizing a visit of the Nicaraguan delegation to Belarus in order to get familiar with the manufacturing enterprises the Nicaraguan side had not seen yet and which are unique on a world scale to a certain degree.
