MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarus believes it is advisable to start assembly production of vehicles and machines in Nicaragua. First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov made the relevant statement as he met with Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, advisor for investments, trade, and international cooperation to the Nicaragua president, BelTA has learned.
Nikolai Snopkov said: “We appreciate your active stance on Belarus. I am very glad that contacts with Nicaragua are actively developing. The two countries with similar views on the events going on in the world are pooling their efforts for the sake of joint development. We build our positions on the basis of principles of sovereign equality, independence, and mutual respect. We are grateful for the constant support Belarus receives in the international arena and we reciprocate with joy.”
He remarked that Belarus-Nicaragua political interaction is more advanced than economic interaction. “But the latest trends inspire hope that we will substantially build up our economic cooperation for the benefit of development of the two countries. And we see your huge personal contribution to that. Thank you very much for that,” the first deputy prime minister stressed.
Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko pays close attention to the advancement of relations with Nicaragua. “The visit that took place in July 2024 gave a powerful impulse to the expansion of interaction with your country. The contract for the delivery of 700 units of equipment is the base point. I hope that we will not stop at deliveries of machines, vehicles, and equipment but we will develop the service base as well. We also deem it advisable to set up an assembly enterprise in Nicaragua,” Nikolai Snopkov emphasized.
“We suggest we should not limit ourselves purely to deliveries of mechanical engineering products and to the development of Nicaragua’s competences in this field. We should evaluate prospects of cooperation in agribusiness, healthcare, education, culture, in research, the development of technologies, and other spheres,” the first deputy prime minister added.
Belarus is also interested in importing coffee, bananas, and sea food from Nicaragua.
