MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - India and Belarus have significant potential to expand mutual trade, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Ashok Kumar said during a press conference held at the National Press Center of Belarus to mark International Yoga Day, BelTA has learned.
“I am confident that there is potential to increase trade and economic cooperation between India and Belarus, particularly in pharmaceuticals, textiles, defense, agricultural machinery, and other sectors,” he said.
“India fully understands that Belarus is currently facing sanctions, and they are affecting our bilateral trade,” the diplomat noted.
Ambassador Ashok Kumar emphasized that during his visits to Belarusian regions, he explored opportunities to establish contacts between business communities of the two countries and develop cooperation across different areas.
He added that before his appointment as Ambassador to Belarus, he served in Zambia. Now, he is enjoying getting to know Belarus, its culture and economy.
