Ambassador: Economies of Uzbekistan, Belarus are resilient to external shocks

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Despite the global turbulence and external challenges, the economies of Uzbekistan and Belarus demonstrate stability and high growth rates, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov said at a roundtable "Uzbekistan and Belarus, a time-tested partnership" in BelTA’s press center.
 
The diplomat noted that the two countries achieved positive macroeconomic outcomes last year. The ambassador delved deeper into Uzbekistan’s economic performance.
 
“The economy of Uzbekistan was estimated at $90.8 billion in 2023, up by 6%. Per capita GDP increased to $2,468. Uzbekistan’s foreign trade reached $62.6 billion, up by 23.9% over 2022. Our country is developing dynamically and is one of the largest economies in the region. Uzbekistan is a great partner of Belarus,” he said.
 
In addition to that, the ambassador drew attention to the significant uptick in investments.
 
According to the diplomat, the economy of Uzbekistan remains robust and stable, just like the economy of Belarus.
