Ambassador: EAEU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement strengthens Minsk-Hanoi trade cooperation

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - On 29 May, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov, together with the heads of diplomatic missions from Armenia, Kazakhstan and Russia, participated in a press conference to mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam, BelTA has learned.

During his speech, Ambassador Vladimir Borovikov outlined the priorities of Belarus' chairmanship in the EAEU in 2025 with a focus on pairing the integration potentials of the EAEU, CIS, SCO and BRICS.

Regarding U.S. actions, the Belarusian ambassador stressed that Vietnam's enhanced engagement with EAEU could serve as a tool to maintain the country's trade balance. He highlighted the positive impact of the EAEU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement on bilateral relations between Minsk and Hanoi demonstrated by the record high trade achieved in 2023.

Ambassador Vladimir Borovikov criticized unilateral restrictive measures imposed by certain countries, stating that they adversely affect people's well-being and pose risks to global food security. Following the press conference, the ambassador answered questions from Vietnamese media, including Hanoi Television.
