Ambassador discusses Belarus' export to Rostov Oblast, cooperation in agriculture

MOSCOW, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus' Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met with Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev in Rostov-on-Don on 7 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

“The meeting was dominated by matters of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Rostov Oblast. It was noted that it is possible to step up cooperation in the processing of agricultural products, livestock industry, and transportation. Belarus also suggested exploring cooperation prospects in the construction sector,” the press service noted.

“This is my first visit to Rostov Oblast and I am very impressed with the high investment activity in the region, construction boom, support for small businesses and the region's other successes in various areas,” Dmitry Krutoi emphasized. Given the significant industrial potential of Rostov Oblast, Belarus is increasing the supply of component parts for various industries (including grain harvesters). Belarus purchases metal products, pipes for various purposes, and other investment and industrial goods from Rostov Oblast.

“We would like to resume deliveries of Belarusian buses to Rostov Oblast, which will help to significantly upgrade the regional bus fleet as early as 2023. We could as well cooperate in the field of electric transport. The establishment of a regional center MAZ SOUTH is expected to be of great help here,” the ambassador said.

“The parties came to the conclusion that cooperation in agriculture holds a lot of promise due to its high level of development both in Belarus and in Rostov Oblast. In addition to traditional supplies of dairy products from Belarus and sunflower oil from Rostov Oblast, Belarus is ready to share its expertise and knowledge in animal breeding and dairy farming, seed production, processing of agricultural raw materials,” the diplomatic mission added.
