Ambassador: Belarus, India have huge potential for cooperation

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Belarus and India have a huge potential for cooperation in various areas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Alok Ranjan Jha said at a meeting with representatives of Belarusian enterprises and organizations at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI), BelTA learned from the BelCCI.

The event was attended by BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, heads and representatives of 20 Belarusian companies. More than 80 representatives of local businesses operating in mechanical engineering, textile industry, food production, pharmaceuticals and banking services joined the online broadcast of the meeting on the Zoom platform.

Vladimir Ulakhovich said that India is a country with a large market that is actively developing and gradually getting closer to the status of the world economic leader. Cooperation with Belarus meets India's interests. Belarusian engineering and chemical products are in demand in India. Necessary conditions have been created for the development of interaction between business circles of the two countries: business delegations exchange regular visits and there is a business council.

“We have developed a pretty good infrastructure and support system for our cooperation. The meeting with the ambassador is another step in this direction. Today's event is a unique opportunity to get the latest information about India, to strengthen business relations and investment cooperation,” the BelCCI chairman said.

Ambassador Alok Ranjan Jha, in his turn, underlined that India attaches great importance to cooperation with Belarus. The countries have a huge potential and great prospects for cooperation in various areas. He expressed confidence that business in Belarus and India are interested in a quick return to the traditional format of the dialogue and the level of relations that was before the pandemic.

The participants of the meeting got familiar with the promising areas of Belarusian-Indian cooperation, new export niches for the Belarusian products in the Indian market, specifics of business and investment climate, tourism potential, financial instruments to support foreign business in this country.

The representatives of the Belarusian companies held negotiations with the foreign ambassador and got an opportunity to ask him questions related to the development of relations with the Indian partners.
