Algeria interested in assembling Belarusian vehicles, machines

MOSCOW, 22 March (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi met with Ambassador of Algeria to the Russian Federation Boumediene Guennad on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

The two ambassadors discussed items on the bilateral agenda, the schedule of forthcoming contacts between Minsk and Algeria, and cooperation in politics, trade, and economy. The Belarusian ambassador expressed satisfaction with growing trade. He mentioned Belarus’ interest in resuming the joint assembly of Belarusian trucks and agricultural machines in Algeria.

Dmitry Krutoi pointed out the existing potential for selling more Belarusian agricultural products to Algeria and invited the Algerian side to participate in the international agricultural expo Belagro, which is due in June 2024. He said he believes that the completion of the recognition of Belarusian veterinary certificates for milk and dairy products will help increase deliveries to the Algerian market.

The Belarusian ambassador also drew attention of the Algerian ambassador to the possibility of selling Belarusian pharmaceutical products to Algeria. In turn, the Algerian ambassador stressed the importance of developing the entire range of relations between Algeria and Belarus.

Boumediene Guennad welcomed the idea of promoting the joint assembly of Belarusian machines and vehicles. He mentioned the importance of deliveries of agricultural products for ensuring food security and expressed interest in getting familiar with the experience of development of Belarus’ pharmaceutical industry.

The heads of the diplomatic missions of Belarus and Algeria in Moscow also touched upon interaction of the two countries on international platforms. They mentioned the affinity of their stances on topical items on the international agenda.
