Advanced technology division of Belarus' Customs earns Br280,000 in H1 2021

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – The economic effect achieved by experts of the Customs Lab totaled Br280,000 in H1 2021, representatives of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Economic effect from the operation of the Customs Lab exceeded Br280,000 in H1 2021 taking into account recalculated customs payments. The lab is busy working to prevent attempts to transport low-quality products, counterfeit products or precious goods, unsafe products across the border. Customs Lab experts have carried out about 550 expert evaluations so far this year. About half of them focused on examining narcotic substances.

The Customs Lab constantly improves its routines. Innovative methods are used to carry out quality inspections fast. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry is one such method. It can provide information about the composition of a complicated material without destroying it. The relevant equipment has been acquired. It allows examining jewelry, metal alloys, and precious stones among other things.
