GELENDZHIK, 19 September (BelTA) – The ability to use cards of the Russian payment system Mir everywhere in Belarus should become available by the end of 2020. Head of the Central Office for the Payment System and Digital Technologies of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Tatiana Ruskevich made the statement at a session of the permanent seminar on Union State construction under the aegis of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 19 September, BelTA has learned.
The official said: “The relevant roadmap is available. We are very fruitfully working in this direction. A pilot project will be launched early next year. Very good prospects.” After the pilot project is launched, it should become possible to use Mir cards everywhere in Belarus by the end of 2020.
Mir plastic cards are part of the Russian domestic payment system, which operation cannot be affected by external economic and political factors. Operations involving Mir cards and cards issued by international payment systems are processed by the Russian national payment card system.
