60% of exports processed automatically by Belarus' Customs

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian customs service processes 60% of export goods in an automatic mode, representatives of the State Customs Committee told BelTA.

Persistent and confident efforts of the customs service to introduce information technologies in customs operations have allowed it to expedite merchandise clearance. At present 91% of the transit goods are cleared within 10 minutes while 88% of the exports are cleared within 5 minutes. The results are on par with this year's targets. It is worth noting that 60% of the exports are cleared automatically without assistance of customs personnel.

The source noted that full transition to digital technologies remains the main vector in the work of the customs service at present. The customs service stressed that contactless forms of clearance have a positive effect on the time needed to clear goods, on financial costs of private companies without any detriment to the quality of customs operations.
