The traditional Kupala holiday was celebrated on the Augustow Canal on 7 July. The central location of the festivities was the Dombrovka sluice gate.
The holiday celebrated the Kupala Night traditions and rites. All those present took part in dances around the bonfire, jumping over it and went on to search for the the magic fern flower. It blooms for a very short time on the summer solstice and is believed to bring fortune to the person who finds it.
