MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The speed skating team featuring Belarus' Varvara Bandaryna ranked fifth in the Mixed NOC Team Sprint event at the 3rd Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
Apart from Varvara Bandaryna, Team 4 included Myrthe de Boer from the Netherlands, Czhechia's Lukas Stekly, and Japan's Yudai Yamamoto. They finished the race in 2:06.80, +2.70 to the time of victorious Team 3.
Belarus' Max Fiodarau's Team 1 placed 9th and Andrei Herman's Team 2 came 11th. Unfortunately, the team featuring Belarus' Karyna Shypulia was disqualified. The final event of the speed skating competitions will take place on 16 January. Athletes will compete for medals in the team mass start event.
The 3rd Youth Olympic Games are running in Lausanne, Switzerland on 9-22 January. The competitions have brought together 1,880 young male and female athletes from over 70 countries. Belarus is represented in five disciplines.
