MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka and Belgium's Elise Mertens reached the J&T Banka Ostrava Open semifinal defeating the Latvian-Russian tandem of Jelena Ostapenko and Vera Zvonareva 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 10-8, BelTA has learned.
In the singles event Aryna Sabalenka will face Spain's world number 73 Sara Sorribes Tormo for a spot in the semifinal.
In another quarterfinal match Belarus' world number 14 Victoria Azarenka will play Belgium's world number 21 Elise Mertens.
At the Challenger tournament in Istanbul Belarus' world number 129 Ilya Ivashka defeated Turkey's world number 215 Cem Ilkel 6-2, 6-2. In the quarterfinal Ilya Ivashka will take on Kazakhstan's world number 173 Dmitry Popko.
