Ivan Tsikhan qualifies for Tokyo Olympics

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarusian hammer thrower Ivan Tsikhan has qualified for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.

The head of the Belarusian Athletics Federation won gold at the Ukrainian Throwing Cup.

Ivan Tsikhan threw 77.57m in his third attempt and improved to 77.72m in the fifth round.

At the Orlen Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow on Sunday Belarus' Karyna Demidik placed fourth with 1.90m in the Women's High Jump event. Eleanor Patterson of Australia won the event with 1.96m. Silver went to Italy's Alessia Trost (1.93m). Emily Borthwick of the UK was third with 1.90m.
