MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Hammer thrower Hanna Malyshchyk of Belarus clinched bronze at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial, a World Athletics Continental Tour meeting in Hungary, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian finished third with a 70.59m best. Alexandra Tavernier of France took command in the third round with a 73.09m effort to secure the win. Pole Malwina Kopron improved to 72.68m, also in the third round, to finish second.
The tournament in Szekesfehervar, Hungary honors the memory of Olympian, 23-time champion of Hungary in sprint, former Secretary General of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Istvan Gyulai.
Competing at the event on Belarus' behalf were also long jumper Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova and 100m Hurdles sprinter Elvira Herman.
