French Tennis Federation lets players from Belarus, Russia compete at Roland Garros

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - French Tennis Federation President Gilles Moretton has said athletes from Belarus and Russia will be able to compete at the French Open, French newspaper L'Equipe informs.

Gilles Moretton said that Belarusian and Russian players would be able to take part in Roland Garros in the neutral status. He restrained from commenting on the position of the organizers of the Wimbledon tournament and the British government to ban Belarusian and Russian tennis players.

This season's second Grand Slam tournament, the French Open, will be held at Roland Garros in Paris from 22 May to 5 June. Last season the winners of men's and women's singles events were Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic.
