MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 408 Vera Lapko got off to a good start at the Astana Open 2021, seeing off world number 132 Jule Niemeier of Germany 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours ten minutes, BelTA has learned.
Vera Lapko will next play either Kazakhstan's world number 47 Yulia Putintseva or world number 162 Ekaterine Gorgodze of Georgia.
In the doubles opener Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava will take on Emily Webley Smith of the UK and India's Rutuja Bhosale.
The tournament in the capital of Kazakhstan will be over on 2 October.
