Belarus’ Sharamkou claims floor exercise gold at World Cup stage in Baku

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Yahor Sharamkou has become the winner of the second stage of the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, which is taking place in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, BelTA has learned.

The top athlete of the Belarusian men’s team secured victory in the floor exercise event. In the final on 7 March, Sharamkou scored 14.533 points to finish ahead of world championships medalist Milad Karimi from Kazakhstan, who earned 14.300 points. Third place went to Japan’s Kazuki Minami (14.200). In 2025, Yahor also claimed gold in floor exercise at the Baku stage, and in February 2026, he took silver at the stage in Cottbus, Germany.

Later on 7 March, Belarusians Sofia Shtykhetskaya and Ulyana Kuzmenkova will compete in the women’s uneven bars final. On 8 March, Anastasiya Smantsar will vie for medals in the floor exercise. Belarusian Mikita Parfianovich also participated in the tournament in Azerbaijan, finishing 15th on pommel horse and parallel bars, and 18th on horizontal bar.
