Belarus’ NOC president: Conquered Olympic heights are a symbol of Belarusian talent

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) - The General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus has reviewed the organization’s performance for 2025 on 24 March, BelTA has learned.

The General Assembly took place two days after the celebration of the NOC’s 35th anniversary. The National Olympic Committee was established on 22 March 1991, and two and a half years later became a member of the International Olympic Committee. Since 1994, Belarusian athletes have competed in nine Winter and eight Summer Olympic Games, winning 109 medals, including 22 gold medals.

At the start of the General Assembly meeting, Vladimir Pertsov, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration, read out a message of greetings from Aleksandr Lukashenko.

“Over 35 years, the NOC has traveled an impressive journey, from the first steps of recognition on the international stage to the status of one of the most respected and effective institutions in the country,” President of the National Olympic Committee Viktor Lukashenko said. “We see not just dry statistics, but a living chronicle of victories, behind which lie the fates of great athletes, the work of coaches, and the faith of millions of fans. The Olympic heights conquered by Belarusians have become a symbol of the resilience and talent of our people. 35 years of the NOC of Belarus represent continuity between generations, international prestige, and an infrastructure for the future. New competitions and complex challenges lie ahead. We are confident that even more brilliant triumphs await us under the sign of the Olympic rings.”

The General Assembly also featured a ceremony honoring distinguished sports figures who were instrumental in establishing the National Olympic Committee.
