Belarus’ Hatouka, Kubareva book quarterfinal spots at W15 Sharm ElSheikh in Egypt

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis players have reached the quarterfinals at W15 Sharm ElSheikh 2026 Tennis Tournament in Egypt, BelTA has learned.

In the Round of 16 on 26 February, Yuliya Hatouka battled past Italian Verena Meliss, securing a 7-5, 7-5 victory. In the quarterfinals, Hatouka will face fellow Belarusian Anna Kubareva, who confidently defeated Jamilah Snells of the USA in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Also on 26 February, in the second round of the Megasaray Hotels Open 2026 tournament in Türkiye’s Antalya, Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich lost a three-set battle to Despina Papamichail of Greece, 6-3, 2-6, 1-6. In the quarterfinals of the doubles draw, Shymanovich and Russian Maria Kozyreva will meet the Egyptian-Greek tandem of Mayar Sherif and Despina Papamichail. In their first match, the Belarusian and Russian pair defeated the Slovenian duo Nika Radišič and Dalila Jakupović 6-3, 6-1.

At the W75 Porto 2026 Tennis Tournament in Portugal, Aliona Falei of Belarus will play in the Round of 16 against Eva Guerrero Alvarez of Spain. At the start of this competition, the Belarusian defeated Italian Camilla Rosatello 6-1, 6-2.
